Bittersweet is the moment of death Where one mourns the present And reminiscences the past. I stand beside this new resting spot of yours Numb to reality I stumble upon what to feel To our family we share our times with you. The funny stories I share, with you as their star I laugh at your oddness and smile at the thought I owe many grand memories, all to you. But sadly these smiles don't last very long My grin stays strong but my soul still cracks Reality strikes me down and I struggle to get up. A sadness will linger in my soul for some time When I no longer hear your happy hellos Or see you there, waiting for me. Without you by my side is like a hole in my heart An emptiness I cannot fill A loneliness I cannot shake. But I know you'd dislike this desolate state of mind You'd want me to laugh and play the day away And gaze upon the stars. I know how rough life will be without you by my side But perhaps when I look beyond those stars I'll see you there, looking
